ljmattox > Parking area at the MOA rally...that's a whole lot of Beemers!
ljmattox > Our route home, including a detour for Lolo Pass, and dropping down to do some Colorado riding on the way, Stacy'd never been there. We overnighted in Dillon, MT, Steamboat Springs, CO, and Salina, KS on the way back. Dillon was a bit exciting: arriving about 10p, we pulled off the interstate onto the exit, where (unmarked) the pavement ended and we were driving on dirt/gravel streets (under construction). Fortunately I hit a unlit, 6" ditch at the hotel entrance pretty square or we'd have been down for sure.
ljmattox > On our way back home, we took in a meeting of K12RS/GT bikes that had been organized on the i-bmw list at the Hot Rod Cafe in Post Falls, ID. Good to put some names/faces together, and a nice break before hitting the road to cover 2000+ miles home.
ljmattox > We lined the bikes up for a portrait before we left. You can tell which bikes had far to go!
ljmattox > A local K12 owner brought this very nice all-black K12RS. Verholen short screen, had Remus exhaust...very racy!
ljmattox > Stacy at the summit of Lolo Pass. We'd ridden here from I-90 / Missoula, looking to photograph that "Curves next 77 miles" sign that everyone covets. Turns out it appears on the ride from the Idaho side, so we didn't get it after all. Made for a great ride though!
ljmattox > Lowell with the Mighty K at Lolo Summit.
ljmattox > After an overnight in Dillon, MT, we rode through southern Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado. We'd planned to make it to Granby, CO for the night...but called it a day at Steamboat. How could we resist this motel? Our day down from Dillon had included several hours of strong-crosswind, driving rain I-80 travel, and we were ready for a nice dinner and a stroll by dinner time.
ljmattox > Leaving Steamboat Springs the next morning, got a nice view of this balloon taking off...that would have to be a spectacular ride!
